Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Mostafa Fayek is a geologist whose research into fluid-solid interactions has direct application in archaeology, particularly sourcing archeological artifacts. He uses stable and radiogenic isotope systems, along with nanoscale and microscale structures of minerals, to fingerprint archaeologically recovered artifacts and thus link them to their geologic source. Along with Dr. F. Joan Mathien, OAS hopes to collaborate with Dr. Fayek in the development of a turquoise exhibit.
