Master Artist Youth Workshop with Zuni Pueblo Weaver Chris Lewis

July 16, 2019

Tuesday, July 16 through Friday, July 19, 2019, from 8 am to 5 pm

The Heard Museum, in partnership with the New Mexico Office of Archaeological Studies, will present a Master Artist Youth Workshop by Zuni Pueblo basket weaver Chris Lewis from July 16th-19th, 2019 at the Center for New Mexico Archaeology, located at 7 Old Cochiti Road, Santa Fe, NM 87507.

The Heard Museum's Master Artist Youth Workshop provides youth participants (ages 12 through 24) and their parent or guardian hands-on instruction from Zuni Pueblo basket weaver Chris Lewis.

Learn about the different materials used in making yucca baskets, how to harvest those materials, basket weaving techniques, how to prepare yucca, and learn to weave your own basket. Class space is limited; participants must register to attend. Lunch will be provided to workshop participants.

To register and for more information about the Heard Museum's Master Artist Youth Workshop, contact Marcus Monenerkit at MMonenerkit@heard.org or (602) 251-0243.
